Top Government Officials in Nigeria Receive Covid-19 Vaccine

The first set of Covid-19 vaccination which entered the country sometime last week has been administered to some top government officials. The vaccine was first administered to some front line health workers as well as the president, Muhammadu Buhari and his vice, Yemi Osibajo on Friday and Saturday.

The chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) rtd Gen. Buba Marwa, and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and publicity, Garba Shehu, received the vaccine at the State House clinic.

The Chief of Staff to the president, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari and Permanent Secretary, State House, Tijani Umar also received the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID -19 vaccine at the clinic in Abuja.

The vaccine was also administered to affected government officials by the Chief Nursing Officer of the State House Clinic, Esther Ibrahim. Afterwards, they were presented with vaccination cards by the Chief Medical Director of the clinic, Dr Hussain Munir.

Professor Gambari testified that the vaccination was painless and went on to advice all eligible Nigerians to take the vaccine. He commended the president for taking the lead in receiving the vaccine and a sure that it has been confirmed to be safe.

All members of the presidential force on Covid-19 are expected to receive the vaccination later in the day.
