To appreciate the Royal support of Obas in Egba Land that are members of Progressive Obas Forum at Ile Ife where Her Excellency Dr. (Mrs) Olufunso Amosun was bestowed on the tittle of Modern Queen Moremi by King of Yoruba root His Imperial Majesty Oba Ogunwusi Adeyeye Ojaja II the Ooni of Ife On July 19, 2018.
A royal banquet was staged at the Governor’s House Isale Igbein Abeokuta where her Excellency, Queen Moremi meet, chat, wine and dine with the ever-supportive members of the forum to appreciate their support back then in Ife.
She said “your support at Ooni’s Palace, Queen Moremi statue visit and at Oduduwa hall where I was decorated was visible and enormous. I was looking at my back with happiness that I have you as my fathers and supporters”,
she also quoted the above expression in Yoruba adage “Nigba ti mo n wo eyin mi ni ile ife, momo pe eniyan laso mi”.
The royal banquet host had in attendance the secretary to the State Government Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa who welcomed the Obas officially to the Government House, he expressed the appreciation of the present administration under Gov. Ibikunle Amosun CON, FCA to the Obas, he said “we are always happy for your support, thank you for acknowledging the good deeds of Gov. Amosun and choosing to identify with it, kindly continue to support him (Amosun) and the state knowing that now is when we need you most”he further thank Her Excellency for being a good mother and wife to her husband “thank you for your sacrifice at home and to the state” he added.
The banquet paraded Obas from nook and craning of Egba domain in Ogun State, some of them took after the SSG to shower love and praises to Her Excellency while some of them used the opportunity to express their concerns from their various communities to the first lady in anticipation that she will deliver their messages to her husband (Gov Amosun), some of them are Olu Owode of Owode Egba, Onitetiku (Ado Odo Ota), Alagbado of Agbado, Oba Akinale of Akinale, Onipapa of Papa and others, their various concerns focused on “promotions, completion of projects, unity among royal fathers wives and first lady, the long anticipated Obas car, to make paramount continuity in this good governance, how a known person especially from the present administration will be chosen by the Governor not stranger, distinction on areas of authority and traditional domain for Obas to avoid dispute, Obas state and others
Captain of the ship (Progressive Obas Forum) HRH Oba Abdul Fatai Akorede Akamo the Olu of Itori Land also brought a goodwill message from their life Patron, The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egba Land Oba Dr. Aremu Gbadebo the Okukenu IV, summarized the praises and yearning of his members by thanking Her Excellency for her motherly support and stated the importance of royal fathers in the political system he said “we Obas are like doors to the people and bridge between the politician and electorate, as we are in Progressive Forum, SIA’S way is our way, we’ve been able to achieve this unity with your support as a mother who listens and also accessible”.
Olu Itori also used the opportunity to thank Gov. Amosun for his continuous support, in his word “we are proud to be Obas in Egba Land and members of this Forum just because of how caring the Governor is to us, he has been promoting us and making life easy for our subjects in our various towns, with his laudable projects, the completed and work in progress ones, we solidly stand by him for continuity in good governance beyond 2019, he is our father, son, brother and our man”. He also appreciated the SSG for his support as the engine room of the firm union between them and the Government.
Her excellency Dr Mrs Olufunso Amosun the modern Queen Moremi in conclusion expressed her gratitude and happiness with their support and unity she said “I am always happy for the unity among you, thank you for speaking in one voice, I know that you’ve said all your concerns in love to make us better I will deliver your messages to my husband”
The visit ended with a courtesy visit to palace of Alake of Egba Land who received her excellency and members of Progressive Obas Forum at the unveiling ceremony of the redecorated IDI ERE.
