Popular social media influencer, Pamilerin Adegoke popularly known as Omo Iya Ologi was reported to have been held at SCID Panti for several hours after he was summoned there for an interview. This action set social media ablaze as it provoked other influencers and social media personalities to call for his freedom.
Pamilerin, who was a front liner at the #EndSars protest was invited by the Nigerian Police for an interview. However, rumour has it that he was invited only at the behest of a Mrs Iyabo Awokoya, a popular supporter of a leading political party who is based abroad.
Pamilerin was held at the police station for over 8 hours. This provoked the aggressive reaction of many twitter users.
Prior to visiting the station, Pamilerin had posted the invitation on his social media page. It was addressed via the State CID, Panti, Lagos to answer questions concerning an “undisclosed issue”.
In the letter, Pamilerin was assured that the interview was for fact finding only and that he was in safe hands. It was signed off by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, Lagos.
Iyabo Awokoya and Pamilerin had formally been engaged in a heated exchange of words sometime during the #EndSars protest where she promised to teach him a lesson. The ominous note on which the exchange ended, had everyone waiting with bated breaths for the other foot to drop.
After hours of anticipation, Pamilerin was finally released. He attested that he was alright and the security officers were surprisingly very professional. He has been invited to the station again on Friday.
