PublicFaces Celebrates the Women of Olodo Town

On the 13th of March, the enterprising women of Olodo town in Odeda Local Government received the PublicFaces team led by the publisher Adebola Solate to celebrate the 2019 International Women’s Day.

The global celebration on 8th of March was rescheduled for 13th by the team due to gubernatorial election aura in Nigeria.

With the support of the convener and other supporters, the team visited the town with gift items such as clothes, shoes, yards of cloth and packs of food and water. The women also enjoyed free medical check- up by the HOPE HOSPITAL medical team and other medical volunteers.

The program which started at 11am had the women trooping in as early as 8am. Meanwhile, the day of the visitation coincided with the popular Garri Olodo market day as women from other villages were also in attendance.

The Ogun Excellence Award 2019 “Man of the Year”, Mr Wale Adeogun, who hails from the host town was in attendance with students from his humanitarian serviced computer school. PublicFaces had in her team influencers like Chief Mrs Asabi Adesina, the Yeyemoso of Yewa Land, Mrs Olubunmi Adekunle, Dr Alayaki who was represented by staff of HOPE Hospital, Abeokuta.

The program kicked off with music and dancing as the elated women sang and danced to welcome the team. The program included balance for better talks presented on health, fashion and social responsibility/lifestyle.

There were also fun segments such as fashion parade, dance competitions and questions and answers which the women fully participated in and were rewarded by being given a pass to shop for any item of choice that was on display. There was also a poetry rendition by the leader of Olodo Town, Mrs Olanloko.

Just as one can’t separate women from their children, students from the Amuludun Computer school who had satisfactorily completed the course were also given certificates to mark their graduation.

The program came to a close with some last words of encouragement by the Convener, Miss Adebola Solate, who encouraged the women to keep making other women in the world proud by being peaceful, healthy and enterprising as they are. She further enjoined them to take the gospel of things learnt at the outreach to other women in their interior hamlets. The women were then presented with their gifts and a pack of food with water while pictures were taken to mark the momentous event.
