As the race for the 2019 general elections gathers momentum, the soft spoken and handsome Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Dimeji Sabur Bankole who had occupied an prestigious position in Nigeria’s political seems to be making an enviable move in social scene as he has been making generous contributions to Churches and Mosques and other Institutions.
Recently, he delivered a public lecture at Ijebu News Extra Magazine annual lecture where he tackled issue of Unemployment and Entrepreneurship facing the teeming Youths’ in Nigeria,prior to this, he was also a guest lecturer at Federal University Of Agriculture.
According to a source he is said to be playing Ijebu Card for 2019 Governorship Seat against the popular Yewa political agenda
He shot to National limelight at age 37, following the removal of the former Speaker, Patricia Etteh, over an alleged financial malfeasance.
After he lost the bid to return to the House in 2011. Thereafter, he showed his interest and contested for the Governorship seat in Ogun State under the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP). This ambition did not see the light of the day as Gboyega Nasir Isiaka was chosen over him.
Still in bid for agenda 2019, teeming youths who are also die hard lover of the Ex-speaker launched ‘Goodwill and Reliance Group’ to show there support In anticipation for 2019 success.
The ex-speaker is the son of Chief Alani Bankole, the Seriki Jagunmolu of Egbaland, second republic politician and Former National Vice-Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). His mother, Atinuke Bankole, is the Ekerin Iyalode of Egbaland.
