The former President and Commander-in-chief, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday honored the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, Lagos, AIG Abdulmajid Ali.
The event, which was held at the Banquet Hall, Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, was at the instance of the former president, and was graced by many dignitaries including both serving and retired security Chiefs and captains of industries and Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa.
Chief Olusegun Obasanjo also appreciated some retired officers of various security agencies who had served in Ogun State before their transfer or retirement from active service.
Obasanjo, who described Ali as a man of the people, respected and seasoned senior police officer, was the first elder statesman in Ogun State to celebrate AIG Ali after his promotion to the rank of AIG and posting to zone 2 Command, Lagos.
AIG Abdulmajid Ali, while reacting, was full of Joy to have been celebrated by the former president and an International figure who appreciates his leadership and professional styles as the immediate past Commissioner of Police who discharged his duties efficiently.
AIG Ali them promised to be more active and effective as the police boss in charge of the zonal command, Lagos. He vowed to flush out miscreants and hoodlums who have been terrorising the good people of Lagos and Ogun States.
Other dignitaries at the event included the former Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr Ade Abolurin, the Commander 35 Artillery Brigade, Brig General Danwalis, Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Ahmed Iliyasu and wife of the AIG Abdulmajid Ali, Hajjia Idiat Abdulmajid Ali.
