DON’T GO TO EVENTS THAT YOU ARE NOT INVITED TO
Infact who does that? There is a reason you were not invited in the first place, just do yourself some good by not approaching the venue, else you will need to start introducing yourself like “I am the neighbour of the groom’s sister’s colleague
ASK FOR ASO EBI OR INVITATION CARD
These days, the party uniform “Aso ebi” seems to be the gate fee for events in Nigeria. To avert embarrassment at the event, always buy them or get an invitation card if you can’t.
PUT ON THE EVENT’S COLOUR
This is applicable to you even if you bought ASO EBI, if you buy ASO EBI, ask for their colour or check the IV because I can’t imagine you storming the event with an odd colour of headgear and other accessories. Meanwhile, if you feel ASO EBI is not important, there is a way you can rock the related colour from your wardrobe and still be on point.
EAT BEFORE YOU SET OUT
This is paramount too, you don’t want to start explaining the time you ate last to the ushers and food vendors at the event,e.g “can I get anything, I am on drug and I have not taken anything in the last 24 hours” please who your drug help?
ALWAYS BE ON TIME
We are not saying you should always be an early bird but don’t blame the caterers, ushers and celebrant for not eating at the party if you will not come to the event hours before the event. In fact if you revere the celebrant you won’t attend a 12pm event by 6pm.
BOOK YOUR STYLIST AHEAD
This is the reason some guests are late to events, we all know some tailors might not make heaven but book them ahead and get a reliable one, makeup artists can eat up from your time too, book them ahead.
DON’T ARGUE WITH BOUNCERS AND USHERS
I see no reason why you will gorgeously dress and start embarrassing yourself in front of the bouncers, most times, they are mostly overzealous while some guests don’t like their sight at all, some people feel intimidated by bouncers, to avert all these shenanigans “LIKE DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM? as you approach the security/bouncers, extend your invitation card, and if you are putting ASO EBI on as gate fee, respectfully pass through them and don’t start identifying other people and telling reasons they must enter without ASO EBI or I.V, and if you don’t have both or you forgot your I.V at home, kindly call the celebrant to inform the ushers or bouncers or add your name to guests list ahead. On getting to the venue without ASO-EBI or I.V, convinced that you are invited, step aside, call your contact person to come and identify you and that’s all. You won’t need to argue with bouncers in the first place.
SIT CLOSE TO THE SERVICE TABLE
Don’t argue with ushers as they direct you to the labelled tables, but if the tables are not tagged, you are at liberty to sit anywhere. Choose a vantage position that will allow you wine and dine perfectly.
DON’T LET FRIENDS WITHOUT IV TAG ALONG
Why do you always bring plus one, is it your party? Sincerely tired of some people on this issue, fine you bought aso ebi, 6 yards and you and your 5 other friends are managing it with fabrics just to attend, meanwhile the celebrant is budgeting for 500 guests, if everyone do that how then can guests be satisfied with addition of plus one and more that you are inviting on their behalf.
DON’T STRUGGLE FOR SOUVENIRS AND FREEBIES
Do you know that if you are important you will always get souvenirs even after the party. These souvenirs are one of the reasons that you shouldn’t attend parties that you are not invited to, meanwhile to get freebies, you have to be important or look important, because gifts are shared for social circle reasons, so if you are not given, don’t struggle for it or feel less important.
BE POLITE TO EVENT MINDERS There is a way you can address waiters, ushers, bouncers and others on duty and make them feel important and dignified with their labour. If you tell a waiter that “you are doing a good job on this table, thanks dear”. Boom!!! He/she will feel good waiting on your table and make sure you enjoy more all through.
