Brexit Deal Denied

The quest to leave the European Union is what is known as the Brexit deal. Britain voted this move in a referendum on June 23, 2016. Britain’s Prime Minister, Theresa May has been struggling to win support for her Brexit deal in Parliament. Her government has drawn up a withdrawal agreement which the EU has agreed to but awaits approval of Britain’s parliament. The vote was to be passed in December but was moved to Tuesday, January 15.

The vote suffered a huge defeat in the House of Lords on Monday night which turned out to be an echo of the main debate as Members of Parliament (MPs) from all sides rejected the deal. Prime Minister May lost by 432 votes to 202 votes. This is recorded as the biggest government defeat since 1924. If PM May fails to get a deal before March 29, the UK has to leave the EU without an agreement.
