Arewa Ogun 2018: Highlights From Camp

If you have ever attended any Pageantries Grand Finale and you were impressed with all that you saw, then Arewa Ogun 2018 the Grand Queen edition is definitely something to look out for this Sunday, 4th of March 2018.

I was opportune to witness all the activities that went down at their camp and I was nothing but astonished by the amount of zeal, energy, and efforts that goes into what the audience see and enjoy at the Grand Finale. From the tired feet of climbing the steps of Olumo Rock (to the top of the Rock) to the indefatigable dance steps rehearsals, cat walking steps training, striking poses, art of seating as a queen, various Lectures and finally to the creative chaperone and the entire team making sure everything is in place to stage a perfect show.

Here are snippets from the camping activities…..

It was full of interesting laid down activities. Arewa Ogun 2018 pose instructor Seyi Dean took charge in the morning to teach to the contestants: T-Pose, Smile Therapy, Cat Walking, Sitting and posing like a queen, while CEO Global Exposure Events and Parties and the brain behind Arewa Ogun Beauty Pageant, Bunmi Mustapha who championed confidence as a virtue for the contestants. Also, the visit to the Kampala Adire market in Itoku was an eye opener for the contestants as they all witnessed how adire clothes were made, while they asked questions from their host who also happen to be the Babalaje of the market, Mr Michael Ogunfidodo. Then off to Olumo Rock where a Grand Tour was experienced, as usual, clicks of camera shutters and flashes of lights was rained on them as they all carefully made it to the top of the rock. The next and last visit for that day was to Paramount Ruler of Egba-Land’s Palace, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egba-Land for his Royal Blessings.

They started the day two with rehearsals of the Grand Finale’s activities with the same pose Instructor Seyi Dean, while Sijuade Adebowale, the CEO of Extreme Affairs and Egba Social Entrepreneurship Awards was present to lecture the contestants on Passion and life after Arewa Ogun. While their Dance instructor, Odekeye Michael Olamide took the contestants to the dance floor for their dance rehearsals with his wavy moves while the contestants were twisting their waist and moving their feet to the sound of the beat. After which
Lunch was served and the contestants gather for a quick recap of what they have learned so far, while Ex-Queen Temitope Azeezat who also happens to be the first Queen of Arewa Ogun came around to share her experience with them. To end the activities on day two of camping, the 2018 Arewa Ogun contestants had a club tour, visiting three clubs in the State Capital, Abeokuta starting with, Abeokuta Sport Club 1904, Galilleo, and Mood.

Saturday, the 3rd of March, 2018 was the contestants last day in Camp, penultimate day for Arewa Ogun 2018, the Grand Queen Edition, and the day LISABI is being celebrated in Abeokuta. They woke up with bright smiles on their faces as they continued the Journey of the pageantry preparations, Their first activity for the day was led by Mrs Adetorera Obimakinde (a banker) she spoke to them about attitude towards life, how to face the agony of defeat after the competition, attribute of becoming a successful woman, how their experience in life would shape their future among other things. Immediately after that, the celebrated political icon, politically known as Iron Lady in Ogun State politics, Hon. Adijat Adeleye, came to pay them a visit where she talks about confidence and life after Arewa Ogun. Later that evening, few hours away from the Grand Finale, the contestants once again stepped out to rehearse their dance steps with dance instructor, Odekeye Michael Olamide.
For some of the contestants, they are new to these things, some have contested in other pageantries but never gave up their dream of becoming a Queen while they continue to thread the path of becoming the 2018 winner of Arewa Ogun.
