A Serial Entrepreneur Inspiration … Ubi Franklin

Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown , this cliche can also be said of  one of Nigeria’s Serial Entrepreneur, Ubi Franklin, who metamorphosis from one business to another until he reached stardom.

Ubi Franklin, born Ubi Ekapong Ofem, is a Nigerian music artist manager and the Founder/CEO of Made Men Music Group (Triple MG or MMMG) record label.

In 2017, he launched a start-up called “Instant Pickup”, a service which specializes in instant home pickup and delivery of laundry.

Franklin was born in Cross River State on 2 February, 1986. He is the 11th of 15 children. He had his primary and secondary education in Calabar, after which he studied law at the Madonna University.

On November 1, 2015, Ubi Franklin married Lilian Esoro and had a son on 7th of July 2016.

Franklin worked as an assistant to Julius Agwu before going on to work with AY Makun and other artists. He then became promoter of shows.

In 2010, he became Iyanya’s manager before the song “kukere” was released, which became a hit.

 In 2014, when the label had expanded, other artists, including Tekno, Emma Nyra, and Selebobo were signed and Iyanya became a co-owner of the label.

However, the singer jumped ship to the Don Jazzy-led outfit, Mavin in 2016

His stake at MMMG was subsequently bought by Franklin who thereafter sold to Paul Okoye, CEO of branding outfit Upfront and Personal, and also the convener of One Africa Music Fest convener.

In November 2017, he launched Instant Apartment, an online platform that offers luxury apartments for rent.

In October 2018, he launched Instant Ryde, an online taxi service in his home town Calabar, Cross River state and Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.

In 2016, Franklin was named City People Music Awards’ Music Manager of the Year.

Franklin is also a public speaker. He was a speaker at the Youth Enterprise Conference organized by Nairabet’s founder,Otunba Akin Alabi. He shared stage with chairman of First Bank, Ibukun Awosika, and Veteran Nollywood Actor Richard Mofe Damijo at the Hub Business Conference organized by Commonwealth of Zion Assembly.

In 2017, Franklin launched the Ubi Franklin Startup fund, a platform to fund existing business ideas and plans. Through the fund, he has supported several businesses with startup capital and funds.
